Paulo Dybala has officially joined AS Roma on a free transfer three weeks after his contract with former club Juventus expired.
The Argentina star expressed his excitement at his free transfer to Roma, discussing the project and coach Jose Mourinho.
The 28-year-old forward emerged as a contender for the Argentinian forward last month but things really began to heat up over the last few weeks, with the race for the player’s signature boiling down to Roma and Napoli, with the previously keen Inter Milan focusing on other targets.
Paulo Dybala has reportedly signed a €4.5 million contract, with bonuses allowing that contract to grow to a cool €6 million, which makes him the top earner at the club, with Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini following close behind him. According to La Repubblica, he has also had a £17m release clause inserted into his contract that will become active next summer.

Dybala claimed that it would be a privilege to work with a club that’s on the up and discussed his thoughts on Mourinho and the passionate support of the fans.
“The days that led me to sign this contract have been filled with so many emotions. The speed and determination with which Roma showed how much they wanted me made the difference.
“ I am joining a team that is on the up, a club that continues to put in place strong foundations for the future, and a coach, Jose Mourinho, that it will be a privilege to work with.”
Dybala spent seven years with Juventus, from 2015 to 2022. In that time, he made 293 appearances across all competitions, scoring 115 goals and providing 48 assists. He won five Serie A titles at the club, along with four Coppa Italia crowns.
Giuseppe Giannini: Dybala signing just like Batistuta
Ex-Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini said the joining of Paulo Dybala is as big a signing as Gabriel Batistuta.
“He’s like Batistuta in 2000 who led to the Scudetto the following year.” Said by Giannini.
“I admit I thought about it too, because players like this change everything in all respects, on and off the pitch.
“They give strength to the team, improve their teammates, charge the environment and they scare the opponents.
“Obviously having kept (Jose) Mourinho, with him the basic nucleus of the team and then having taken someone like Dybala is something great. One like this really moves a lot.”
